Celebrity DUI and Traffic Stops

June 20, 2024

Famous people pulled over just like you and me and here’s proof. Get ready for celebrity traffic stops part one. The big news this week: Justin Timberlake was arrested for DUI in the Hamptons however there are few details at this moment. In the meantime, here are few other notable celebrity brushes with the law.

To start, one of the most memorable celebrity traffic stops happened right here in our hometown of Miami. To date, this remains one of the biggest stars to ever have a brush with the law while driving. None other than the Biebs.

Bieber was arrested on January 23 after they saw him driving a yellow Lamborghini in a race against a red Ferrari in a residential area. The cars were speeding at about 55 to 60 mph in a 30 mph zone according to officers. Police said Bieber was argumentative during the arrest and failed a field sobriety test. He was charged with DUI and resisting arrest. Tests later showed Xanex and Marijuana in his system.

The arrest caused a media frenzy. Prosecutors ultimately dropped the drunken driving charge in the agreement, which requires Bieber to get 12 hours of anger management counseling, attend a program that teaches about the impact of drunken driving on victims and make the large donation to the “Our Kids” organization. Years later, Justin seems to have made a negative into a positive and has recently taken to Instagram to memorialize the event.

The most recent celeb traffic stop to cause a big stir in Miami happened in Surfside and allegedly involved a chase with the paparazzi. On April 24th 2024, an emotional Gizele Bündchen was pulled over for a traffic violation and let go with a “courtesy warning. In released bodycam footage, the ex-wife of former NFL star Tom Brady can be seen getting visibly upset during an exchange with an officer who stopped her vehicle. Later the Mayor of Surfside and Police Chief made public statement that the stop “should have been handled differently.”

Let’s move a little north to Palm Beach County for our last celeb traffic stop of the day. According to court records, rapper 6ix9ine (AKA Tekashi 69) allegedly was clocked at 136 miles per hour in his “not so inconspicuous,” painted splattered 2018 Lamborghini SUV on the Florida Turnpike. FHP slapped Tekashi, with a speeding ticket and a citation for not having proof of insurance, along with a misdemeanor count for purported failure to register the vehicle, all of which amounted to more than $1,500 in potential fines. He later missed his court date and was subsequently arrested on the charge.

That’s it for today. We hope that celebs behave themselves while behind the wheel and stay out of trouble. However, the lawyers at The Ticket Clinic are always ready to take on a high profile case.
